Every year, several new technologies are introduced into the dental world. The instruments that dentists and their teams use are evolving just as fast as cell phones and computers! Fortunately for our patients, just because something is new and trendy, that doesn’t mean it’s automatically brought into our dental office. Dr. Kitt researches constantly and only uses the latest, proven instruments that are guaranteed to make his care more precise, efficient, and comfortable.
Intraoral Camera
Rather than just shining a bright light into your mouth (and eyes!) to examine your teeth and gums, we can take a more sophisticated approach. With a small intraoral camera, our team can capture images of your entire oral cavity quickly and comfortably, including the areas that are impossible to see with the naked eye. This speeds up appointments and makes it easier for our team to spot potential problems. Plus, we can show you your own images on a nearby monitor so you and Dr. Kitt are always on the same page.
Digital X-Rays
X-rays have a lot of applications in dentistry, as they allow us to look below the gum line and find potential cavities, infections, or other problems that might affect the roots of the teeth and nearby bone. Because they are so important, we have upgraded to fully digital X-rays, which create sharper images, require only seconds to develop, and emit 90% LESS radiation compared to traditional film.
The Wand
Our patients certainly appreciate it when we give them local anesthetic so they don’t feel anything during their procedures, but do you know what no one likes? The injection needed to administer it. That’s why we've been using The Wand for over a decade now, which slightly numbs the treatment area before the rest of the anesthetic is administered extremely slowly and evenly. This causes most patients to feel nothing right before they feel nothing!
Soft Tissue Laser Dentistry
Lasers have completely revolutionized the way dentists treat the gums. Instead of relying on incisions and sutures, Dr. Kitt can now remove harmful bacteria from deep below the gum line with a concentrated beam of light. The laser is extremely precise, so any nearby healthy tissue is completely untouched, and the instrument cauterizes nerve endings as it works. This means the patient experiences practically no discomfort or bleeding during or after the procedure, and the recovery time is extremely short as well.
iTero 5D Intraoral Scanner
If you’ve ever had to get a dental crown or an oral appliance in the past, chances are you’ve had the unpleasant experience of having impressions taken of your teeth. Traditionally, impressions are collected with a goopy putty that is pressed against your teeth until the putty hardens, which many patients understandably find uncomfortable. Some even gag! Here at Kitt Dental, we provide a better way: digital impressions with the iTero 5D intraoral scanner. This device easily fits inside your mouth and scans it, creating a precise 3D image we can see directly on our screen. From this image, our dental lab can accurately fabricate your restoration or appliance for the perfect fit, and you can have a better experience in the chair.
